[RPG] Rereading ... Casus Belli (11)

Casus Belli No. 11, November 1982, 40 pages.

The No. 11 is the first issue of Casus after the departure of FMF (now marked as "founder"), leaving only Guiserix as editor until the end. Guiserix talk of a new generation of RPGs, "clearer and more attractive to the novice." But curiously, D & D will remain unbeatable in this issue, even Dragon, the official magazine of TSR was not then also D & D-centric. The

News Front are now at the beginning of the magazine. Casus announcement of a sudden an explosion of RPGs: the release of B4 The Lost City , Gangbuster , Star Frontiers, many supplements Traveller (Casus and mocks the French players who have not made Traveller because they are too "lazy", but they still do not write anything), Daredevils, Villains & Vigilantes , Man, Myth & Magic , Behind Enemy Lines , several supplements RuneQuest ( Borderlands, Soloquest , Cults of Prax ) Worlds of Wonder and even already RoleMaster (with the first announcement MERP , in preparation). Jeux Descartes (then at 40 rue des Ecoles) even organized a demonstration of D & D , Space Opera, Aftermath! Villains & Vigilantes and . We are still waiting the first official translation and legal D & D .

Guess Who's Coming to Dinner : the Sallamangé is a living room that eats metal and which closes to absorb weapons and armor of the characters. It can also move as a stream of pebbles.
Bazaar Bizarre : Rules Bruce Heard on the resistance to alcohol (where the Halflings are better drinkers than dwarves).

module AD & D is the 7th event (Level 2) by Bruce Heard, where the characters must solve many puzzles and challenges to find the treasure of the Old Andruald.

The minigame Sonienvo Uprising is a small skirmish between a dozen insurgents in the Balkans in 1911 in an imaginary battle (the rebels against the infamous Von Gülltx).

To compare, the same month, the big brother UK White Dwarf No. 35, which had just celebrated her 5 years, had regular articles for RuneQuest ("RuneRites) and Traveller . White Dwarf is more open to RQ that Games Workshop created a British version. Ian Livingstone gives elsewhere in his editorial in this issue a list of 10 best-selling games in the late 1982 in the USA: (1) D & D, (2) AD & D, (3) Traveller (4) The Fantasy Trip, (5) Top Secret (6) C & S, (7) T & T, (8) RuneQuest (9) Space Opera (10) Arduin Grimoire.
Number 4, TFT, Steve Jackson, later became the famous GURPS but I am surprised by the place of Top Secret, I had always taken for failure of TSR. And yet no Call of Cthulhu in the Top Ten?? We can compare with this list of games published in 1982 to see everything Casus did not speak again.
